NTLDR is missing , Can someone tell me where this file is located ? Or
where the i386 in locate ? I have a retail windows xp pro sp2 5.1.2600
build 2600 , TIA

Which i386 folder?

C:\I386
C:\WINDOWS\Driver Cache\i386
C:\WINDOWS\inf\i386

From the root folder of the system partition of your hard disk drive (for
example, C:\-), copy the following files to the floppy disk:

Hi ... Thanks for your help .. The first one and last one you listed I
don't have those folder listed on my computer , I just see it from the
Driver Cache area but I don't see those files listed either within the
Driver Cache folder , Is there something wrong with my computer ?
Thanks

another way to go is creating a preinstalled windows environment using win XP
i386 and SP2 folders to make a bootableCD image.

thanks wesley, I was looking into what you said and I thought It waould be
more difficult.

When looking for files and folders on your computer use : Start > search >
all files and folder, more advanced > search system folders -hidden folders -
subfolders = i386

You have the XP CD included is SP2? why don't you use that? What are you
doing with them anyway?

The i386 folder has nothing to do with creating a boot disk, unless your
computer will not boot right now, then you need to copy the Ntdetect.com and
NTLDR files from the I386 folder on the XP CD and create a Boot.ini file
from scratch.

If your machine is able to boot right now...
From the root folder of the system partition of your hard disk drive (for
example, C:\-), copy the following files to the floppy disk:
Boot.ini
NTLDR
Ntdetect.com

To display Hidden files and folders...

Start | Settings | Control Panel | Folder Options | View tab
Check:
Display the contents of system folders
Show hidden files and folders
UNCheck:
Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)
Click Apply | Click OK

When you uncheck: Hide protected operating system files,
you will get this message...
Warning
----------
You have chosen to display protected operating system files (files labeled
System and Hidden) in Windows Explorer. These files are required to start and
run Windows. Deleting or editing them can make your computer inoperable. Are
you sure you want to display these files?
----------

Click YES.

[[Hidden files and folders will appear dimmed to indicate they are not
typical items.]]

Would I be able to copy a NTLDR from one drive to another? I have an old
drive with WinXP Home and it BSOD'd from "missing NTLDR" and of course I
didnt back it up.

So could I use my new NTLDR on my old HDD?

thanks
