I wish to print a grid to test skew and distortion

Win XP, Office 2000, HP LJ 1100 and 1000, Avery and other label stock.

When printing labels, the label sheet skews and creeps, presumably because
the paper is slippier. This means that print does not align with labels at
the bottom of the sheet, with up to 4mm shift in 2 directions.

I should like to test this effect. Does anyone know of a test grid that
could be loaded into say Word then printed? Electronic graph paper would do
if it covered the entire area of the A4 sheet

Why not select the 'new document' option from the envelope label wizard and
add cell borders to the resulting table? Print on plain paper and overlay it
on the label blanks. You will quickly see where the run-outs occur. Run-outs
are often attributable to either having a header/footer in normal.dot ot to
having a different page size in page layout to the printer driver and a zoom
option set.
