I want to learn access

This is my second post. Thanks all of you for taking the time to teach me.
Basically I am a doctor, an Intensivist (Critical care specialist). I have
been tinkering with filemaker Pro 7.0, Alpha five v 6.0 and access, and so
far with some knowledge of databases, that I have, I realize what I lack
towards making a successful database application with no fromal trainnig in
computers is that I do not have practical guidance. I know how to play with
the software, minus VB, since I have read these wonderful books, (bible in
access 2003 , bible in Filemaker etc ), but I was looking for some books or
CDs that assume that you know how to design forms, tables, etc, which I know,
and they have some 10 projects or so, which I can design on my own and
compare with the author's development and learn where I am going wrong in my
planning the database/
Can anybody guide me here, does anyboy know and such books/ Like I said I
already have the bible for access 2003. All the books that I have seen on the
market only teach you how to work with the innards of access, but none teach
you how to develop real time appliactions ( I need to practice some 5
applications or so ). I am even ready to preapre applications for people out
here for FREE (whatever level I can ) so I can learn access. And I am
desperate to learn access. I am based in India.

Thanks in advance ,

you've learned a lot of the basics of using the Access software effectively,
which is a good skill foundation for you. here's one good book for learning
"data modeling", which is the foundation of any relational database
regardless of what software you use: Database Design for Mere Mortals by
Michael Hernandez. the book teaches you how to analyze your process, break
it down into data elements, and create normalized tables with appropriate
relationships. you can also google "table normalization" to find a number of
websites addressing these issues. having learned to correctly structure the
foundation of a database, you'll be well-positioned to learn more advanced
development techniques using the Access tool.

Some of the highest quality Access code I've ever seen was written by a
specialty surgeon who just could not find appropriate software for the
purposes needed.

Not long ago, Jeff Conrad posted the following. It is as extensive a list of
Access resources, many of them free, as I have seen. He kindly gave me
permission to quote it.

Hi Julius,

Here's one or two links, grouped by category, to help in your Access qwest.

Hello
I am from Canada (Ontario) and I am very willing to help
you learn what Access I know - I love designing
applications for different needs. If at all possible,
could you zip the file you are are working on and give me
an explanation of what you wish to do in Access and send
it to me - I can then look at what you are trying to do
and I will make recommendations for you and show you how
to do them - email address is as follows (e-mail address removed) -
I will help you.

Regards

<<Resource List Snipped>>

Hi Larry,

Thanks for the assist; I have been out of town.
FYI, I add to the list almost weekly.
To have the most *updated* posted list, just Google
on my name in the Access NGs and include the word
qwest. After the search is complete, switch to sort
by date to have the most recent post at the top.
Then you'll know which list is the most up to date.
