I am looking to create a data base of psychology journal articles for
research purposes. In this database I want to include all pertinent
information from the articles (e.g. date of publication, number of subjects,
disorders of subjects...etc.). I have tried to use statistical processing
software for this, but its just not working....would Access be a good fit?

It could be done, but it might be quite a bit of work to set up. You
might instead want to consider getting one of the commercial programs
for references. Would something like EndNote provide the tools you
want?

If you decide to set it up yourself, read up a bit on database design
and think through the requirements. You'll need at least separate
tables for Journals, Articles (one to many relationship), Disorders,
DisordersCovered (i.e. an article which deals with four disorders
would have four records in the latter)...
