Type the “*†3 times, hit Enter (converts 3 *s to a line), hold down the Ctrl
key and hit “z†(undo). This undoes the automatic action the Word took.
This works with all automatic changes, such as superscripting ordinals,
changing “...†to a single-character elipsis, changing URLs & email addresses
to blue underlined, and so on.
