Pressing the numlock key on a laptop will make, traditionally, the
m,j,u,k,i,8,3,o,9 keys be 0,1,4,7,2,5,8,3,6,9 keys respectively, as a
"keypad". You may even see these numbers lightly printed on these keys
in addition to the letters. To turn on, press the right keys on your
laptop. Have to look at the instructions. For my Toshiba, it's Fn-F11.
However, this does not explain why the A is a 1 unless this is where
your keypad is on your laptop. You do say that the right side of
keyboard does numbers, so this would be the solution. So ... depending
on exactly what you problem symptoms are, this may help. I'm not sure,
though, based on your explanation.
