I receive answers to mails that I haven't sent

Hi all. Yesterday I was sorting out old mails. I moved some from one folder
to another and deleted others.
Today I have received some 30 replies to mails that I have not sent. Looks
like a lot of people whose messages I moved or deleted yesterday have
subsequently received messages from my account. These messages tell them that
I have deleted messages that they have sent me without reading them. Why is
this happening? Is this a normal Outlook behavior or should I suspect that I
have a virus or other kind of malware?
Although not all the replies that I have received are identical, most of
them are quite similar and have the following contents:

Message body:
This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification.
Delivery to the following recipients failed.
(e-mail address removed)

And two attached messages.
First one:
Reporting-MTA: dns;bay0-omc2-s1.bay0.hotmail.com
Received-From-MTA: dns;hotmail.com
Arrival-Date: Sun, 17 Aug 2008 04:03:35 -0700
Final-Recipient: rfc822;[email protected]
Action: failed
Status: 5.5.0
Diagnostic-Code: smtp;550 <[email protected]>: Recipient address
rejected: User unknown in local recipient table

And second one:
Your message
For: alonso'(e-mail address removed)
Subject: <the subject>
Sent in: 26/01/2006 10:19
was deleted without having been read in 17/08/2008 13:01.

Maybe some of them, I'm not sure because most of them were quite old.
However, if they did, I had already sent the read receipt when I read them.
Besides, I'm sure that some of the addresses from which I received replies
*didn't* have receipt requests. For example, I received some of this replies
for newsletter addresses.
So what do you think is the problem?

Your message
this is a read receipt - the message you deleted today was not marked read
previously. I don't know of a way to generate it any other way. Spammers
occasionally use read receipts so they can verify addresses are valid.

I'm not sure if that explains the problem.
First, I had already read those messages in the past, several months ago. If
they had a request for read receipts, that request should have been shown to
me when I read them, and I would have accepted to send the read receipt (I
always accept).
Second, all the messages I sorted out were marked as read. I could have
missed one or two, but not more than 30 (30 is approximately the number of
messages that I have received saying that the address is no longer valid).
Finally, it looks weird to me that Outlook sends a reply saying "The message
you sent to Alonso was deleted without having been read". That sounds quite
disrespectful.

So I wonder if I might have a Trojan Horse or any similar type of malware
that would be sending these messages under certain conditions.

It's no more disrespectful than asking for read receipts. If one is
requested, the sender expects a reply when you read it or dispose of it
unread. That is a valid message - why it was generated with previously read
messages, who knows - but I don't think malware is involved.
