I am trying to create a power point presentation which has an mepeg video
running in the slide. I want to have text crawl across the screen at the same
time the video plays, Similar to karaoke. Any tips would be greatly
appreciated.

What version of PPT are you using? (if using XP-2003 you have much better
control of the video and the way the text can be animated).

Insert video
Add text as a long single line text box positioned off the right edge of the
slide, just below the movie height.
Apply a FLY-IN from RIGHT, WITH PREVIOUS animation to the text box (if using
XP-2003, adjust speed and start time in the advanced animation view).
Now video will play and the words will scroll across the screen while it
plays.

But the video would need to be smaller than the full slide, correct? In
other words, leave blank space at the bottom of the slide for the text to
scroll across, otherwise the text will animate beneath the video.
