I need to get a copy of all incoming & outgoing messages

KKunard

We currently have an employee that is suspected of "questionable business".
I am needing to get a copy of all incoming and outgoing messages without that
employee's knowledge sent to my email address also. Can you please tell me
the easiest way to go about this? We use Microsoft Outlook for our email and
we're all set up on a network.

Thanks anyway.

Hi, KKunard,

Before I get to answering your question, let me first provide some
information about what 'here' is.

This is a newsgroup. This is not an official forum where Microsoft
employees use a ticket system to answer questions as they come in. There
isn't someone whose job it is to answer questions in this newsgroup, so, if
you require an immediate answer, consider this to be the 'If this is an
emergency, call 911' announcement when you call a pharmacy. If this is an
urgent issue, contact Microsoft Technical Support.

That said, you posted approximately 2 hours before you gave up. That tells
me that your issue is urgent, so my immediate answer is 'Call Microsoft
Technical Support.'

Now, that said: What kind of mail server are you using? Is there an
Exchange server in the picture, or are you all connecting to a POP/IMAP
server at your ISP, or is there a third party mail server at your location?

Basically, in terms of Outlook, it's just a client program. If you want to
see what mail is in it, you need to open up Outlook on that machine.
Depending on what type of server you're connecting to, you might have
different options.

I'm really sorry to have offended you but by the other questions and
responses I read on this site I figured my question was as legit as the
others.

As far as your comment, "If you want to see what mail is in it, you need to
open up Outlook on that machine", I suppose I COULD just stand over their
shoulder and watch them all day but that somewhat defeats the purpose ....
hence my original question.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm dialing 911 right now to direct my question
elsewhere since "HERE" isn't where the answer lies with any sort of tact.

Signed,

Nothing to do with the question being "legit" or not - the point that
was being made is that as this is a peer-to-peer news group, and that
being so there is no guarantee that you will get a response within a
particular time frame, or even get a response at all. If there is no
body who has an answer then you won't get a response. Period.

Offended? Not offended. Sorry if you think my trying to provide education
as to what sort of support you can get here versus other places, as well as
what sort of response time you might get vs. need, was my taking offense.

And it *is* a legit question. That doesn't mean you're going to get an
answer in less than 2 hours. Like I said, it isn't anyones job to sit here
and answer questions. It is all volunteers.

And, while it is a legit question, it is a question that is lacking
elements, elements which I tried to get from you by asking why kind of
server Outlook is connecting to.
As far as your comment, "If you want to see what mail is in it, you
need to open up Outlook on that machine", I suppose I COULD just
stand over their shoulder and watch them all day but that somewhat

Yes, indeed, it does. However, that's how you do it with Outlook. Again,
going back, what kind of server?
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm dialing 911 right now to direct my
question elsewhere since "HERE" isn't where the answer lies with any

Tact? I don't think Usenet and 'tact' are two words that go together. But,
if I may, your post of 'Guess I won't get a response here .... I'll try
elsewhere .....' comes across with a tremendous lack of tact itself, and a
bit of huffy rudeness. So, well, get whatcha give, y'know?

And yet, you're taking my advice and contacting Microsoft Technical Support
for a faster answer. FWIW, the answer isn't going to lie with the client,
its going to lie with the server. Which, again, is why I asked about the
server type.
