I need to be able to embed movie clips in my powerpoint presentation. I have
already created the presentation on my hard drive and copied it to my Jump
drive. I began my presentation in front of a class of students and the clips
would not play. Why is the option of embedding and linking not left up to
me, the end user, and does anyone know how to get around this problem without
spending alot of time.

Sounds like a question here.. Since you have copied it into another drive,
you should check the presentation first before presenting it.

The link might be broken, Check this out:

You can also consider downloading PPTools FixLinks Pro to depath the link.
