Hi,
I got a couple of problems i can't solve on my own (and believe me, i
tried...)

Firstly and most importantly - I had to install the .net frmework in order
to use some application. after that the PC would't startup the same way - it
started asking me to select a user in a welcome screen and I wanted it to
log-on automatically like always so I deleted the .net framework user. Now it
doesn't show the welcome screen but it does ask for a password for my normal
(and only) user. Since i don't have a password i just click on "ok" and it
logs on. why, in god's name, can't it just log itself on like always????
Also, when I press ctrl+alt+del it doesn't bring up the task manager like it
always did but a "windows security" window with a few options including the
task manager.
I should mention that there is only one user in the system (even guest is
turned off) and that the computer is not connected to a network.

2. Many times (not always) my screen doesn't turn off after the period of
time specified in the "power options" in the control panel. It is set to turn
the screen off after 10 min. but sometimes it simply won't until i touch the
mouse again and click somewhere on the desktop, then it will turn off after
10 min. how can I make sure it will work everytime i leave the pc?

Hope someone could help me
Thank you!

First, go to Control Panel and double click on User Accounts.
Click on "Change the way users log on or off".
Make sure there's a check mark in the box next to "Use the
Welcome Screen" and "Use Fast User Switching".
Hit the "Apply Options" button.
Close User Accounts.
This should restore the default behavior of Ctrl + Alt + Del.

Next, do the following to logon automatically:

Go to Start -> Run.
Copy and paste the following into the Open box:

control userpasswords2

Click OK.
Uncheck "Users must enter a user name and password to use this
computer".
In the box that pops up, replace Administrator in the "User
Name" box with your user account. Enter your password twice.
Note: You can leave the password box blank if your account does
not have a password.
Click OK twice and reboot to see if you get the desired
results.

As for your second question, are you using an optical mouse on
a surface that isn't one solid color. I've seen strange mouse
behavior under those condition. Other than that, I have no idea
what may be causing your monitor to not shut down as scheduled.

Good luck
