I need help and don't know where to go to find it.

I have tried searching the Microsoft knowledge base and haven't found
anything.

I have tried asking this group and the Windows newsgroup and am still in the
dark.

I have FrontPage 2002 installed on a Win 98 Dell P4 system and it WAS
working well.
I had been designing and authoring my web on a partition of my hard disk as
device G:/ which included a web and subwebs. Well . . that is until just
recently!

This arrangement allowed me to test and debug a big web based upon being
able to navigate using the XFX DHTML Menuing system and using the construct
of "/hdr/mainhdr.jpg" to be able to find that component from anywhere in any
subdirectory. The alternative was 1. to have a different navigation system
for each level away from the root( root="hdr/mainhdr.jpg", one level away
being="../hdr/mainhdr.jpg", two levels away being="../../hdr/mainhdr/jpg",
etc).

The use of full fixed URLS (http://www.wgtn/net/hdr/mainhdr.jpg") was not an
option that would allow me to test and develop locally on my hard disk. SO
it was used.

And I did want the technical complicating of installing and maintaining my
own personal server, so it was not an option.

After asking here about a problem with FP 2002 Component Include Page, I was
led to install the service packs for Office XP. That did fix the problem
that I HAD been having. BUT . . it created one that was far worse!

After the installation of the Office XP service packs, I could not longer
open the web I had at the Root of drive G:/ . This meant I cannot update my
home page nor the menuing system for the entire web that resides there!

I tried rebooting. I tried uninstalling FP 2002 and reinstalling it. I
searched the Registry for stuff to no avail.

Although FP 2002 will let me have access to the Roots of drive D:/, E:/, and
F:/ . . and gives me the option of changing it to a web . . it will not even
let me pne drives G:/, H:/, and I:/ since I installed the service packs. why
keep me out of just those drives?

So, I figured I would creat a partition at J:/ and copy my material from G:
to J: and it might let me open J:/ like it was willing to do with D:/, E:/
and F:/ . . HA! No such luck! After creating the partition and copying
stuff there FP 2002 tell me there is no web at devie J:? and won't let me
open it with FP. .nor does it give me the option of creating a web there
like it will from drvies D, E, & F?

I cannot update my home page nor the navigation menu without getting to the
web at the Root of drive G:.

Does anyone have ANY insight or guidance?

Hi News.

Why partition in the first place? Are you not using W98 SE with the File32
File System?

In any case, it sounds as if the partition may be damaged or the FP
extensions have been. Can you access drive G: via Window Explorer? Will FP
allow you to open a File, not a web but a file, on drive G?
