It is ticked but it is grey out along w/ the rest of
them.

Some possible solutions.

Close all instances of Internet Explorer except one
Right-click on the top Toolbar, uncheck: "Lock the Toolbars"
Place the cursor over the "Address" button and click (hold down)
It will change to a 4-way arrow, move or expand the Address Bar to desired
location
Right-click on the top Toolbar, check: "Lock the Toolbars"
Hold down the Ctrl key and close Internet Explorer.

Confirm these default Registry entries exist:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main]
"Show_ToolBar"="yes"
"Show_URLinStatusBar"="yes"
"Show_URLToolBar"="yes"

In Internet Explorer Menu: Tools/Internet Options/Advanced tab
Scroll down half way to:
Search from the address bar...
When searching.... select a mode.
Click Apply.

When i right click on the ToolBar, I don't see an option
to lock the toolbars. All i see is:

Standard Buttons
Address Bar
Links
MacFee Virus
Yahoo Companion
I Search Toolbar

Text Labels

And they are all greyed out except for Text Labels.

iSearch seem to make entries to HOSTS file as well. Rename the file named "HOSTS" (without a file extension). This tip is from MVP Mike Burgess. The HOSTS file will be present in the following location:

Windows XP=C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC
Windows 2K=C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC
Win 98\ME=C:\WINDOWS

Just rename the HOSTS file to OLDHOSTS and try the remaining part of the advice.

[More Information]
Toolbars are locked - Unable to customize toolbar and tool band:

Lavasoft Ad-Aware - www.lavasoftusa.com
SpyBot S&D - http://www.safer-networking.org/
(Spyware removers are rules-based and are updated very frequently as and when new malware is discovered. Therefore, update both of these tools before scanning, very important)

I don't know how to rename the file. Is there any way
somebody could just Instant Message me and walk me
through this process. I would greatly apprciate it.

My AOL instant message address is:
funkcreep13

Thank you

Louis
