Ahaa! The sleaze balls admit that my computer as been secretly
communicating with MS without my knowledge or consent. I
should have asked them when do I get my kiss...MS would probably
reply what do you mean when do you get your kiss...and I'd say,
I'm used to being kissed when I'm getting F$#@ed! See below:

SEATTLE (AP) - Microsoft Corp. (MSFT) acknowledged Wednesday
that it needs to better inform users that its tool for determining whether
a computer is running a pirated copy of Windows also quietly checks
in daily with the software maker.

They should be sued for this and Gates should get sent to prison so he knows
what it is like to get nailed up the butt.

What do you want to bet that Bill Gates doesn't even know about WGA
Notification, he's just a figure now, there are many others that
determine this stuff needs to be added to our systems.

I see. Bill doesn't read the tech news about his own company. Right,
just like Kenneth Lay didn't know anything.

It was just a thought, as I can't really imagine that Bill takes an
active position in OS development any more.

I got an email from my Partner contact, they started a Case based on my
complaint about WGA Notifications and will be calling me to discuss
impact on clients system. Normally they call within 3 business days.
I'll let you know what they tell me.

This is a strawman.

Don't let yourself be dragged into a discussion of who, individually, is
responsible, because it's irrelevant to the fact of what Microsoft has
done.

And what Microsoft has done is unconscionable.

Don’t get your knickers in a knot about WGA Notification phoning home to MS.

At last count I, like most people, have between 30 - 50 popular applications
secretly doing the same, WMP, Real, ZA Pro, Music Match, ISP, etc...

Privacy when using a PC just does not exist, anyone and everyone can see
what you are doing or have done, or even about to do !

Even encrypted emails, etc are just like popular picture postcards which
tourists send home with a comment written on the back, that everyone can read.

Even PC’s that have not been connected to the internet for ages, can store
daily disk images, to be sent home when the PC is eventually connected to the
internet.

Big Brother has been watching for along time now, so what’s new !

Many folks that know that Big Brother is watching, often feed him false
info, that’s now a no no, an illegal activity in many countries, thou shall
not knowingly sent Big Brother false information.

You just can’t win, as Star Trek says, resistance is futile, so give up now,
and live along and prosper.

YOU actually complained about something MickeyMouse has done? Did you fall
on your head recently or go off your meds? This is so out of character with
the number one fanboy around here.

I have stated many times that I'm not a MS Zealot, I run Fedora Core 5
on most of my Linux machines, even commented about moving clients to
Linux for their desktops when I contacted them (due to the costs of
updates for clients).

I'm no fan of MS, but I also don't see many things to bash them for,
other than WGA Notification right now, I never have had a problem with
WPA, WGA, or any other activation/validation scheme they have used, I
just don't like that WGAN sticks around AFTER my (and clients) machines
have been validated.

Aww, Am I reading this correctly????
Darn, been downloading Vista all day;
missing out on all the fun. Well Leythos, I for one won't go there;with the
I told ya so. LOL-

MS had to start somewhere, if this upsets you wait until Vista and the
DRM. XP is as far as I go with Microsoft.

As for phoning home, I turn'd off my updates long ago.

Its real simple… all you got to do is reach way down deep and pull up
some ethics and tell the truth, M$. These M$ers seem to have no more
ethics or morality than the pirates they “Say” they are trying to
catch with their Spyware. Guess it takes an immoral sumbag to catch
an immoral scumbag.
Once installed, the program checks to
make sure the version of Windows a user
is running is legitimate”
Over and over.. and over.… and over..…. and over…….. and
over………………..
At least every 90 days, the tool also
checks again to see if the copy of Windows
is legitimate.
Just in case you stole it off yourself since the last check.
the company sometimes discovers that a
copy of Windows that it thought was
legitimate is actually pirated.
They forgot to mention that the company sometimes discovers that a

I just went on and turned update notification off (never did have auto
update & Install turned on) and firewall blocked any traffic from/to
“Windows Genuine Advantage Notification” AKA M$ Supported Spyware and
rolled my system back to the last Ghost backup before the latest M$
Spyware infestation.

This last M$ abuse of its customer base tears it with me.

I think he's right. Scott McNealy had this to say a few years ago:

"You have zero privacy [on the Internet] anyway.
Get over it."

That still doesn't make it right for Microsoft to spy on us.

Ah,
I see the spin doctor's have had their way with that story. Such utter
b.s. we put the phone home without you knowing feature in so; that if it
goes bad we can shut it off??? OMG and NEVER ONCE NEVER did I see ANY form
of full disclosure, when it was "offered" to me.
oh, by way of deceit;"offered" to me!!
