My network card was not talking to my cable modem. I was
not familiar with the repair functions in XP so I re-
installed in place. Now I cannot click on my start button
because the cursor changes to "busy" when moused over. My
network card is still not talking to the modem.

I only have an upgrade version of XP Home. My thought was
to format the drive and start again, but can I do that
with the upgrade version?

Any suggestions would be helpfull. I have not internet
access at home so finding answers will be difficult.

You can install the upgrade version on a freshly formatted hard drive. At
some point it will ask you for a qualifying CD, simply instert your win98/me
disk that qualifies you for the upgrade and you're set to go....

Posted 'as is'. If there are any spelling and/or grammar mistakes, they
were a direct result of my fingers and brain not being synchronized or my
lack of caffeine.
