I have vista 32-bit. can I install XP Home in another partition?

Hi folks,

I have a new PC with Vista Home premium (32-bit) on it. This PC has one
SATA hard disk with four partitions. The main partition is c: which also has
Vista. Now, in order for me to use some older programs, I'd like to install
Windows XP on one of the remaining three partitions.

Q1: I'm looking for advice on how I should go about it without having to
uninstall Vista and only having to go through the XP installation
Q2: I'd like to have a choice of which OS to boot in the early boot stage.
Is that possible?

Can I recommend that if you don't know the serial key for your vista
installation then you download the latest keyfinder from Magic Jelly Bean
here;
http://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder.shtml
If something goes wrong then you can always download a copy of Vista and use
your valid serial.

It's possible but difficult to dual boot xp & vista if vista is installed
1st.
From experience, installing XP after Vista means you can only use XP but
still have access to vista folders and files via file explorer. I think the
reaon why is that XP overwrites the boot file and it doesn't recognise
vista. If vista is installed second then its boot file overwrites the XP
boot file but does recognise the older version of Windows and allows you to
boot both.

Do a search of google on dual booting XP & Vista with Vista being installed

When you dual boot, and you boot to the XP drive, you will loose Vista
restore points unless you use Bit Locker Encryption or other workarounds
discussed multiple times on this group.but there is an easy way to avoid
this problem:

When you are on your Vista drive and want to access files and folders and
shortcuts on XO, just use the file path in the IE address bar:

XP Drive Letter\Documents and Settings\Your XP Profile\Desktop

When the folder pops up, drag the folder icon in its address bar to your
Vista desktop and you have an instant shortcut to XP. When on the XP
desktop, if you boot to it, you can shortcut to the Vista desktop via
C:\Users\Vista Profile\Desktop and put a shortcut on the XP desktop the same
way.
