I have these......\\\\\.....for my back slashes in my
C:\programs\files\common\files....what are these and why
don't they show up when I hit the same backslash up in the
subjective of this message....I am thoroughly
confused...please help
You've got the won codepage selected.
There is a setting in Windows XP which allows old programs to display text
correctly. Someone has set this to Korean on your computer. A side effect
of this is your backslashes are replaced by the Korean currency sign, as
this is used on Korean systems in place of the backslash in path names. To
reset this:
Go to Control Panel.
Open Regional and Language Options.
Click on the Advanced tab.
Change the language under 'Language for non-Unicode programs' to something
more appropriate.
If you or someone using your computer does need to use an old Korean
application, rather than changing this setting and rebooting all the time,
you can use Microsoft's AppLocale utility to allow that program to display
Korean characters without affecting the whole system. Get it from:
