I have a problem with a word document being encrypted

My roomate was writing a word document and she said that while adding a
bullet something happened and now the entire body of the document is
encrypted. It looks like she tried to open up a newer version of a word
document on an old version of word its all squares and gibberish. if anyone
can help would appreciate it. thanks.
 
Yes I tried that macro ran it and all it did was get rid of all the space's
between the chrs. Im really at a loss here, Ive tried saving as RTD, tried
opening new documents saving the info to the new document then running the
macros, Tried wordpad and notpad and nothing seems to be working. The
document is in english but was written in french so its rather important that
I recover it. I even sent it to a friend to have him try a few things and he
cant recover it either .... sigh.
