I hardly ever get responses. Am I not doing something right?

I rarely get answers or replies. It is very frustrating. I look for my email to see if any replies. I see almost all the posts before me and after me have replies. It seems very odd. Am I doing something wrong regarding posting? I try to make the subject line informational as I read in posting suggestions. Although I see all the posts with extremely generic or no relevant information in subject get answered all the time. So please tell me if I need to be doing something different. Or maybe I have done something that has offended the MVP group. Please enlighten me.

When you ask a question it is usually answered by another user - if anyone has an answer. That may not always be possible.

Questions asked in newsgroups are supposed to be answered in the newsgroup - not with an e-mail.

I checked my newsreader back to 1 August and found exactly two posts from you, neither of which got answered. As other respondents said: If your post fails to attract the attention of someone who knows something about the subject then you won't get a reply. Your posts themselves are fine: They have an informative Subject line and the problem is well described.

This is a fairly busy group. If you do not score a reply within two days, post again, if only because your post would have disappeared beyond the horizon of most respondents.

By the way, the vast majority of respondents in this group are not MVPs - they are ordinary PC users who volunteer their time because they feel that they have something to contribute. And neither they nor the MVPs keep track of posters whose manners might be wanting. Such posters tend to disappear by themselves!

In your post below I note that you were checking your email for replies. You're wasting your time. Very few respondents bother to reply by email - the medium of choice for replies is the newsgroup itself. This makes me wonder if you ever get to see this response . . .

Post again, and good luck!

I'm sorry I did not correctly write what I meant. I don't check my "e-mail". I check the newsgroup and it is in my e-mail. I don't expect a response to me personally. I check for the response in the newsgroup.

Thank you though. Your response gave me the answers I was looking for. I appreciate the information. And about reposting if not heard reply in about 2 days, I really appreciate that because I would not have felt comfortable doing that thinking I was over doing it.

Thank you again.

Hi

One other point. A lot of people won't read messages posted in HTML.

What you are doing wrong is expecting answers by e-mail. Look back here for
your answers.

Better to have no replies than to know you have a reply and spend 2 hours
searching for the post to see who replied. I'm giving up now and apologise
for not responding to the person who replied.
