That is why you really need the services of an Outlook expert
(assuming your co-workers use Outlook). Outlook has a way of hiding
its email settings in strange places, and each version of Outlook is a little
different in that regard. Have a co-worker click on Help, About...
in their email program. It will show the exact name and version number.
Pass that information on to us, and perhaps we can get an Outlook expert
to give the detailed steps needed to see the mail server name.

i will but not today because we r shutting down pc's for the day......however
i will be watching this for the night at home. do u know how i would find
the server info for hotmail?

Unless you pay for Hotmail Plus, you can't have POP access to
Hotmail accounts. Windows Live Mail includes all Windows Mail
capabilities plus Hotmail access.

Go to one of the PCs that has Outlook setup correctly. Not knowing which
version of Outlook is in use, I can't give you the direct menu path, but, it
will be something like 'Tools|Accounts|Modify an existing Account', select
the Proapp account, and select "Properties" or "Settings" or "Change".
Write down what you see listed for "Server Information", this is what you
need to setup email.

You may have to ask in a newsgroup meant for Outlook, such as:

microsoft.public.outlook.general
microsoft.public.outlook.installation

I think if I was the IS director, you would be fired. We don't let our
employees install anything on our 300 company computers, it's not your
property. Shame on you.

then obviously you dont understand how this office runs.....my boss bought
the pc and told me to set it up.....i was told that i could delete and
download anything that would make my job easier........your company obviously
has no faith in your employees and i am truely blessed to NOT be your
co-worker. Next time dont comment on things unles you have useful info to
offer.....I dont think this forum was inteded for you to crticize the people
in it.

i agree.....the closest thing we have to that is a local pc company that we
call if we have an issue......but it would be much better to have someone
that does it for us before there is a problem. i guess he figures its not
worth it because we only have 9 pcs going.

You can't compare a small outfit (4-8 people) with a 300 employee
company. The small outfit typically has no IS/IT director, and each
employee is on their own as far as computer support.

thats what i was thinking. we r a bit bigger then 4-8 people but not all of
work on a computer. so i guess it simply wouldnt be cost effective to have
is/it people.
