I'm using Outlook 2000. I saved a .pst file through windows explorer before
reloading my computer and when I try to import the file after the reload, I
get a warning message: "Properties for this information service must be
defined prior to use." After I click ok on this warning I get the following
warning: "File access is denied. You do not have the permission required to
access the fileG:\Outlook\outlook.pst."

I have good news and I have bad news....The good news is I'm relieved I'm not
the only one experiencing this exact same problem. The bad news is I'm still
looking for a solution as well. Hopefully someone here will be able to help
us out. I'll keep looking and trying though. Keep me posted!

Is your G drive a CD or DVD drive? If so, copy the PST to your C drive (or
any other drive that represents a hard drive) and remove the Read Only
attribute. Then, in Outlook, click File>Open>Personal Folders File, browse
to the PST, select it, and click OK.

Brian - I don't know who you are but I sure am grateful for your post. Thank
you so much for solving my problem. I have all my backup up and working
normal again in Outlook.

Thank you!
