I get a "bad Search Filter" erro message when I try to send an e-mail. Two
part question:

1) When I click on the dialog box, the e-mail appears to send...is it really
being sent?
2) How do I make this stop and fixt the problem?

Your question will be hard to answer without knowing any details about your
configuration.

Which version of Outlook are you using?
Which mail account type are you using?
Which addins do you have installed?
Any outgoing email rules configured?
Do you get this behavior in Outlook Safe Mode as well?
Start-> Run; outlook.exe /safe

Roady,

I'm running Outlook 2003.
I'm using comcast. So I guess its got a POP/SMPT (not sure if this is what
you're asking for)
I'm not installed any add ins that I'm aware of...I think it's a plan
vanilia instillation.
No outgoing e-mail rules that I'm aware of. I just checked...no rules.
No...have not tried safe mode.

Does this help?

Yup, that helps as then we know what we're talking about :)
Please try it in Safe Mode first, this will help determining the scope of
your issue.

Roady,

Two things:

1) The erro message I receive is as follows:
LDAP Server
Bad Search filter (87)

2) I tried running outlook.exe/safe from the run prompt...but it could not
find the file to run.

1) Aha, sounds like you have configured an LDAP server then as an address
book service but do not use it. Remove it from your mail profile via;
Tools-> E-mail Accounts-> option View or change existing directories or
address books-> button Next

2) You omitted the space between outlook.exe and /safe

1) Outlook version is 2003 11.8217.8221 SP3
2) I'm using Comcast (not sure if this is addressing the question)
3) I'm not aware that there are any add ins...I'm relativly new to this PC
and I did not install any add ins...but it's possible my predecessor has.
4) I don't have any outgoing rules.
5) I did try the safe mode...but could not figure out how to make it work.

This is sort of an interment issue...sometimes it occurs...sometimes it does
not.
