I.E. & Shockwave

Since I installed some update awhile back my shockwave started acting up. I
un-installed it and try re-installing it but couldn't. I got the tool bar
that come with the download and shockwave shows up in add/remove but every
page I go to that uses shockwave says it's not there. Has anyone else has
this problem? I even tried downloading from alternate and still can't get
anything.

I had this very same problem until I took the bull by the horns and got
REALLY brutal last week.
First I uninstalled it (from Add/Remove programs) then the hard part (and
most important part) started.
I had to "delete" the Flashxx.OCX (the "xx" could be "8" or "8b" or maybe
something else) from C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash
That was the hard part because every time I tried to delete it, I got an
"Access Denied" message and it would NOT delete. I was logged on as
"Administrator" and I even rebooted as Administrator in "Safe" mode.
Finally I had to fiddle with the security setting for that file (or the
"Flash" folder, I can't remember which) and take "ownership" of it and turn
OFF the stuff about inheriting properties. Doing that it finally allowed me
to delete the file.
I then ran a registry cleaner utility. Then rebooted and ran the registry
cleaner again.
Finally, I went to the Macromedia (Adobe) website and installed the latest
(free) version and everything has worked fine ever since.

Good luck
email me directly if you need more help with this

Same here. speakeasy.net speed test no longer works. Just get blank area.
Are there any spysweeper or nod32 settings that might cause this?

Have you tried what I suggested for Jennylyn??
It's not fun and it's not easy but it did work.
