Does anyone know the port that A.I.M. uses so that I can
poke a hole in my I.E. Firewall and use live Video
A.I.M.? I'm getting a message that says that the
connection cannot be made because of the firewall.

I assume you mean AOL Instant Messenger. If so, the best place to get specs
on AOL's product would be the AOL help and support page.

Thanks for replying. Unfortunately there is no help and
support if you use free A.I.M. 5.5 and are not a
subscriber.

This firewall works by not allowing any incoming
connections. There are some much better free firewalls
out there, go take a look.

Turn the firewall off if it is the XP one.
Get Sygate personal Firewall. It's free and works very
well.

I've never seen that be a problem. The XP firewall is so weak, it
generally just accepts whatever A.I.M. wants to do.

However, you might check the website of a home router manufacturer, like
Linksys or D-Link. They sell home routers, and have extensive FAQs for
those routers, concerning what ports have to be opened or directed for
lots of popular software programs.
