I was running tight on disk space and decided to run the
Windows 2000 compression feature i.e. from Windows
Explorer I clicked on Properties and then clicked
on "Advanced" tab, and then chose to "Compress contents to
save disk space" choice in the pop up window. I then
chose "Apply" and chose the compression to be run on all
files and subfolders.
This run for a long time and I got an error message that I
needed to insert my Windows 2000 Pro CD. I couldn't find
it (Murphy's Law I guess). I tried to undo the damage by
uncompressing the Win 2K folders that I could think of
i.e. WinNT, Program Folders etc... but it did not work.
Windows runs but I am seeing problems like the ATI TV
Wonder card does not work, a CD-R drive does not work,
applications don't work etc...
I have found my Win 2K Pro CD. What is the best way of re-
installing the missing or corrupted files without having
to go through a full re-installation of Win 2K and then
all the SPs and patches ....
Help!!!!
