I can't uncheck the automatically empty deleted items box - help?

Outlook has suddenly decided to automatically empty my deleted items box when
I shut down the programme. When I go to tools, options, other the
"automatically empty deleted items box" is already checked and greyed out so
that I can't uncheck it. How can I uncheck it?

Is your machine a corporate resource that might be having a policy pushed
down on it from the network?
