I can't turn windows firewall on

I don't know how it started. All of a sudden there is the red
windows security alerts telling me my firewall is disabled. But I cannot
turn it on. I tried running my antivirus and several antispyware programs
but the problem persists.

We need more infomration to help you.

Before you give more information, try these:
- repair Windows (insert the disc and select repair)
- reinstall Windows
- reformat hard disk and reinstall Windows
- install another free Firewall (eg Zonealarm basic)
