I can receive emails fine and I do not have a problem with my internet
connection yet for some reason my outlook has suddenly stopped me sending
emails. Now I have checked the 'my server requires authentification' and I
have turned off my norton internet security where it scans sent and received
items. Please help me its driving me in sane?!

Any error messages? Kind of hard to offer assistance without an error
message to work with.

This has happened to me as well. I am not using Norton so that should not be
our problem. I am able to receive e-mails but for some reason Outlook 2003
does not seem to perform the send feature.

I spent 1/2 hour on the phone with Sympatico tech support. Ended up with a
level 2 tech guy. He determined there was nothing wrong with my internet
connection. It seemed to be a problem with Outlook. I get no error message -
it just refuses to receive emails. This started around Wednesday last week.
Sympatico tech support suggested calling Microsoft tech support (ya right!)
to see what is wrong with my Outlook. I checked for recent auto upgrades -
nothing came in in this time frame.

I am forced to use Outlook Express - which I do not prefer at all.

Any help from anyone would be really appreciated.

Thanks

Gord

This can and happens not only with Norton but with MacAfee,Trend and most Anti Virus that is set to scan incoming and outgoing emails.
Disable the email integration of your Anti Virus or Security Suite. In some cases the Anti Virus has to be uninstalled and then re-installed without the email integration.
Your resident Anti Virus will still catch anything bad from coming in. Scanning of emails is redundant and is not needed
