I can't see my graphics until I print or print screen?

I have been having a problem where I can not see the graphics I am inserting
into a Word document? But when I print or print screen then I can see it.
This makes it impossible to edit the picture so it is placed correctly in my
document. Also when I want to do a print screen and then try to dump into
word I can not see that either, I imagine it is the same problem. Is it a
configuration setting that is wrong.
