How do I remove directories that were created with numbers & letters?

It shouldn't be a problem. Although did you try to rename one and then
try to delete it? If that doesn't work, you have something else going on.

John Callaway expressed precisely :

they're probably files created during an update session and yes they
are tricky to delete. Although you may be the only user and the
"Administrator", you still must take ownership of them before you can
delete them

You must be referring to all those folders with really stupid names that
consist of letters and numbers, and are really LONG. There are an awful
lot of them, but I would not have a clue which ones to remove, so I just
leave them. However I have found some empty ones. If they're empty, I
do remove them, because they're not doing anything.
