Hello! Help!

We use Windows XP Professional Edition. I currently have two Quixnet e-mail
accounts managed in Outlook 2003. One of them stopped receiving messages--it
tries to download, but fails. The error message reads "Receiving reported
error (0x80040116) 'Unknown error.'" (I can send messages allright.) Also,
unread messages already in the inbox can not be deleted or displayed as
"read." The second account receives messages, but periodically encounters the
deleting and displaying problem. Also, Outlook is EXTREMELY slow and tends to
clutch or freeze up, taking the rest of the computer with it. : ):) I'm
having some problems with all Office functions (such as Word) being slow.

All the updates are current. I'm running antivirus, firewall, and a spyware
scanner. (The spyware scanner stopped automatically scanning, unbeknownst to
me, for a few weeks; but when I realized it I updated and scanned, and it
showed no problems.)

Quixnet (our server) says everything is fine on their end and settings are
ok; they advised reinstalling Outlook. I'd REALLY rather not do that, since
there's so much to back up, and my brother is getting married in a week and a
half and...

Is there another option, some scan I can run? Anybody? : ):)

Thanks!!!!!

Search the hard drive for a program called (I think) scanpst.exe. It
should be in or around the 1033 folder under MS Office. Point it at the
location of the file and let it run; it may take some time if the file
is large.

Have you tried running Hijack This? I got hit with a virus recently
and this found stuff that was being loaded that should not have been
and that AV and spyware programs did not pick up. The fact that
Outlook is suddenly slow makes me thing that something is attached to
it.

I doubt this will correct the problem, since the symptoms don't have
anything to do with the PST.
