HI guys,

I have been having some trouble with playing dvd's
with my media player. I'm pretty sure that I have
winmedia player 9.. because it's the one that came with
XP, right? Anyhow, in the play menu, I have the option to
play a dvd, but when I Try to, I just get an error
message: " Windows Media Player is currently unable to
play DVD videp. CLick Details and then troubleshooter for
information about configuring your computer to play
DVDs." and then when I click details, it said to close
any other open programs to free resources and then close
and restart my DVD player(Does that mean to open and then
close it?) I don't know. Anyhow, I'd really appreciate it
if anyone could give me a hand with this.

Thanks a bunch,
Adrienne.

XP ships with WMP 8, with WMP9 being available as a downloadable update.
Neither offer DVD playback out of the box. To enable DVD playback, you need
to purchase one of the many DVD player programs available, such as PowerDVD
or WinDVD. Once one of these programs are installed, WMP will be able to
play DVD's back also, although with DVD player programs installed, why
bother?
