i cant partition my hard disk using the diskpart /add command.
i tried the steps given on the pane help of the disk management window but
i cannot see any unallocated space. here are the details on the disk
management window:

Disk0
Volume: C
layout: partition
Type: Basic
File System :NTFS
Status : healthy (system)
Capacity: 37.30GB
Free space: 21.97GB

those are the only information that i can see and when i right click on
that, there is no option for create partition.... i do not know what to do....

please help...

P.S. i'm new to this so if possible, please give me the exact instruction...

Thank you.

With the disk management tools in Windows XP you can only create a partition
in unallocated space that is not already a partition. What you report is a
60 GByte hard with 22 GBytes free space. That is NOT the same as
unallocated space. You can buy a third party program like Partition Magic
that can create a partition in the free space, but your relatively small
drive is alread more than half full, and it would not be advisable to add a
new partition larger than half the remaining space.

Anyway, these days you can by a hard drive at less cost than a program like
Partition Magic; an 80 GByte hard drive ought to be $60 USD these days.

Or you can use free tools to reclaim the space. Ranish Partition
Manager or the very easy to use fully functional trial version of
BootItNG can be used to reclaim the space. And the free price is hard
to beat...

If you don't have any unallocated space already, you cannot create any
additional partition(s) using WinXP's native tools. You'll need to
obtain a 3rd party partitioning utility, such as BootItNG.
