I can't map a network drive

J

JOE

Hi all,
I can't map a network drive with my XP home edition. I
hear there is a few setting in XP to allow mapping
drives. I have tried mapping thru UNC and IP, but no luck.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am about to
throw this lap top out the window.

Thanks,
Joe

we need more information to help.

1. can you ping each other?
2. if yes, what do you get if using net view \\remotepc\sharedname.

1.Yes I can ping to all my servers IP addresses not the
server name.
2. I get an error saying the network path can not be found

So far I am not liking XP. Every other MS OS has no
problem mapping drives until this one.

Thanks,
Joe

I wish you told us the error. any way if it is system error 5, it is
permission issue; if 53, this is name resolution issue.
