I can't erase an autoshape arrow

I have Excel 2002 sp3 and have never seen this problem before - I have drawn
several simple arrows from the autoshapes menu and cannot erase them. I have
tried everything and finally had to resort to coloring the arrows white so
they won't print out. I am a consultant for office products so I think this
may be a bug???? any ideas?

With your drawing toolbar available, what happens if you click on the arrow,
to change your cursor's shape to an arrow, and you then click on the arrow
that you drew? Can you now press Del and make it dissapear?
