I inadvertantly created a folder in C:\Documents and Settings using my name
as the folder name. My lady client is freaking out because I can't get rid
of this folder and she's afraid her boyfriend will see it. When I try to even
rename it , Windows won't permit it. Any ideas anyone?

You would need to be an administrator of this machine in order for you to
rename this particular folder. Try logging in as admin and rename the folder.

Go into Safe Mode, log in as Administrator. Right-click on the folder
and make sure you didn't make it a system folder. If you did, uncheck
that. You might also need to take ownership of the folder. Then you
should be able to delete it.

Thanks Delbert, I'll give it a try.

Alan,

In addition to what Delbert told you while you are in an administrators
account it still may deny you from deleting this folder if it was created as
an administrator as well and made private. You will need to take ownership
of the folder in order to delete it. To do this right click the folder >
click properties > click security tab > click advanced button > click owner
tab > double click the name of the current account you are in > checkmark
replace owner on all subcontainers and objects > click apply then ok. Now
you can delete the folder. Also if you are using XP home edition you will
have to boot into safemode by repeatedly tapping the f8 key right after you
power up your computer and select safe mode. Good luck,

the easy way is to right click on my computer go to properties go to advanced
find user profiles ckick on settings find the profile with your name and
delete it this will delete all references to your name and the user can do it
herself if she has admin rights.

Thanks guys, for your help. I got in under safe mode (why was this
necessary?) and did all the stuff necessary to get rid of that folder.
