I cannot view Powerpoint presentations sent to me via email, help

When ever I try to open a powerpoint file with either .ppt or .pps as file
extension, a window comes up telling me "Do you want to save this file, or
find a program online to open it?" It is saying it is an unknown file. I have
Powerpoint 2003 and also Powerpoint Viewer 2003 installed on my computer, so
I don't understand why it is not working.

Any help, please??????

I tried this but it still says that it is an unkown file. Does it make a
difference that it is through Hotmail? I used to be able to just click on
open file and it would automatically open with powerpoint, but know I have to
save it,and then open it with powerpoint

try right clicking the file that is on your computer, (the one you are
trying to open) and choose

rename

then called it

pleaseopen.PPT

it's really important the it has a DOT and P P T on the end
