I cannot set reminders in Outlook

When I try to create a reminder for an item that is on my Calendar, I get a
message
that says the 'reminder cannot be set because the item is not in your
Calendar or Task folder". The item does appear on my calendar.
I've tried the command line commands to resetfolders, but no change.

Is this the Calendar in your default delivery location?
What version of Outlook are we talking about here?
What account type are you using?
Is your default delivery location a pst-file or an Exchange mailbox?
