I cannot change name of folder sometimes

O

Octavio

I have Windows Vista Ultimate.

Quite often I try to change or update the names of a folder, and Vista would
not let me allow, and I get dialog boxes telling me that I cannot have
access, or do not have persmission, etc, and I get these denials even after
I closed all the other files. It gets annoying that I get the "NO" after I
already typed the new names.

I am the only person who have access to this home PC.

How can I change this so the computer will let me change names anytime I
want to?

Thanks in advance.

I just tried again, and I got the Dialog Box that I need to ",aonfirm this
operation", and even after I said yes (again), I was not able to rename the
file.
Please advise.

Most often it caused by insufficient access rights either in start and
destination directories. Where exactly your problem folder is residing?
What are its owner and access rights?

BTW, you should have separate user and administrator accounts, as this
will fend away 95% of malware.

Any ideas how to remedy this?
I am the single person who uses my PC, no one else does, so I want to know
the facts of how to rename any folder whenever I would like to do that.

Well it very much depends on the folders. Of course you cannot re-name
system folders or program folders.

What and where are these folders that you cannot rename?
