I can send e-mails fine but receive so slowly it times out - HELP

Help!! I can send e-mails fine but receive so slowly my machine times out.
I've tried re-booting, taking it off virus scan and personal firewall, etc.
We are on a wireless network and my wife receives messages fine. I'm
connecting at normal speed. Any help would be appreciated.

Possible MTU issue. See if something here helps:
