I have XP Pro. I have bypassed my log on screen so I didn't have to hit enter
for the computer to fully load up. Now the computer will only load the XP's
version of administrator files. I have my own setting and files as
administrator but the computer ignores my settings and loads the generic XP
basic desktop.
How do I get it to recognise my files 'Bert' as the administrator. Is there
a line I can change or add in the registry. If so how would I go about
changing it?
For now the only way I can get to my desktop is to log out of the
generic version and then type my name in the log on screen that shows up. My
name isn't even listed just administrator is listed. However when I type in
my name it does go to my desktop settings. It is a pain having to boot up log
out and then log on again just to start my computer!
Thanks for any help you can give me,
Bert

Did you use "control userpasswords2" to set this up? If yes, you had
Administrator selected when you went through the steps (a common mistake).
Go back to that applet. Check box to require a password at startup. Restart
the system to reset policies.

Then go back once again. Click on "Bert" and then uncheck the box to
require passwords to logon. When the prompt appears, double check the user
name and enter the password. Your auto-logon should be set for "Bert" now.

TIP: If you ever want to log on with a different account, press Shift while
the system is booting. Windows will stop at the welcome screen instead of
bypassing it. Select other user and enter password for the account that you
want to log on with.
