If you post details of what programs cause problems, it is probable
someone may be able to give solutions.

Is this a new computer shipped with Windows Vista?
Return it since windows vista does not perform as expected.

Or did you purchase Windows Vista and install on an existing computer?
If so, did you verify Windows Vista compatibility with all hardware
and software before installing Windows Vista?
Anything the manufacturer says is incompatible or you have other
reason to suspect should be uninstalled before the upgrade.
The Upgrade Advisor can also help:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/pr...visor.mspx?wt_svl=10008XPHa2&mg_id=10008XPHb2
Remember, as the name suggests, it is an advisor, nothing more.
You still need to research your essential hardware and software.

Any hardware that is questionable should be removed/disconnected.
Additionally anti virus, spyware removers and other malware tools
should be removed, not just disabled, before upgrading.

If you are still dissatisfied, return retail Windows Vista.
Easy in North America within 45 days of purchase.
Other regions may have other policies.

I'm a developer and I use Visual Studio, but for development work, I still
use XP. I have a testbox which has Vista. I have Visual Studio on the
Vista box. It acts weird and I wouldn't dream of using Vista for any
serious development. Maybe when Vista SP2 comes out and the first Service
Pack for the newly released Visual Studio 2008. Take you time moving over
if you can.

I cant understand how they squeezed so many bugs inside the Vista code..

they must have used some sort of high compression.. LOL

jokes aside.. take a look at the other thread we were talking about...
I have some suggestions for WMP, it would be great if you took a look, just
so the time I took writing the post
would not go wasted..

thank you

I couln't agree more. I have gone through Win 3.1 to this mess called
Vista, and this is worst, problematic, unstable, and tottally undependable.
I have it since shortly after it came out and it's been one of the biggest
mistakes I've ever made. I've had to spend more time reconfiguring and
trouble shooting a multitude of problems, ever aspect of the system has
broken down at some time or another, that I have had very little time to
accomplish anything worthwhile. I need a system for work and production,
not diddling around with a mess I know now is never going to be worthwhile.
As soon as I finish burning to disk all my important data, I'm going back to
XP Pro. To Hell with Vista.

Well, since you claim to be a developer, why don't you design your
applications to work properly on the target OS?

If you have suggestions, have you sent them appropriately to
Microsoft?

These are peer to peer support newsgroups and there is no requirement
or expectation that anyone from Microsoft read any posts.
When someone from Microsoft posts, they do so on their own time.
And if someone from Microsoft sees it, they may not be part of the
Product Group that should get the message and there is no expectation
that they will forward your suggestions.

Some may or may not apply to ZachD.

I am not demanding him to see it.. nor forward it ...
I took the time in good faith that he would see it and thats all....

One thing is certain.. is that MS ignored thousands of people who gave good
feedback..
Its their arrogance in ignoring all this feedback that will be their
downfall.

No one ever said you were "demanding" anything, that is entirely your
idea.

In other words you simply want to whine here instead of sending your
message to a correct place where it can be sent to the correct Product
Group to be dealt with.

And it is your "arrogance in ignoring" the proper place to make
suggestions.
In your case, you will not be ignored.
It is your choice not to send the message appropriately.
So there is nothing to ignore.

They did not! I saw lots of response to request during beta. Of course,
you weren't there so you don't know do you? You seem to be suffering
from delusions of grandeur.
Its their arrogance in ignoring all this feedback that will be their
downfall.

It's your ignorance and stupidity coupled with your delusions that has
been and will continue to be, your downfall.

Tisk, tisk...how childish of you!

Hopefully we can be clear that differences of opinions on implementations
aren't "ignoring people". At some point, you have to make decisive calls,
which often will cause some level of discontent. That's an important part
of project/product management. =)

What are the specific failure points here?

The unstable part is probably the most interesting/actionable comment.
Where are you crashing?

I believe Win95 was better considering it was going from Win3.1

You, trevor, are a wimp. Those who agreed with you are also wimps.

I am a developer. I am using VS2005, SqlExpress, xBase tables, etc. I
switched to Vista in the middle of August because my XP lost Internet
connection. DELL could not help me to restore it. I did not want to
reinstall XP since it is a long nightmare. I installed Vista Ultimate
instead.

The installation was a piece of cake but then problems began. Most of them
were of course because of my unfamiliarity with the OS. You have to learn
new movements. It takes time. It is a massive learning curve.

Now practically everything works. I am glad that I switched. XP is on the
way out. In two years you will feel greatly diminishing support.
