I am inserting a word document to send in an e-mail and for some reason the
formatting of my word document changes. How can I prevent this from
occurring?

Are you inserting it as an attachment, or in the body of your message?
If you use an attachment it should be fine presuming the recipient has all
the correct fonts, etc - might want to consider making a PDF of it and
attaching that instead.
