I have been using XP since November of 2001. And it never
really bothered me to activate the OS. I reformat often
Due to the fact that I beta Test software. (Even For
Microsoft). So a reformat is common for me. Never the less
I ran out of Automatic Registrations and I need to call MS
now and speak with a rep. I didn't mind at first. The last
two that I had to speak with were a bit rude so when I
reformatted 39 days ago when Installing the Beta Refresh
of one of Microsoft popular software, I clicked NO to
activation and I told my self I will probably reformat
before the 45 days are up. So today I reboot my computer
and at login I am greeted with a You have 4 days to
activate Windows Do you wish to Activate Now message. I
was about to click yes but My wife was on the phone. So I
clicked NO. Windows boots up. I click Internet Explorer.
Nothing. I Click to Open Outlook. Nothing. I cntrl alt
delte into my task manager. 44 processes running 13% CPU
Usage. I click the Processes tab. I see Internet Explorer
and Outlook running. I end the process on both. I try
again. Neither would load but were listed in the process
list. I end Process again on both. I try Media Player. I
try outlook express this time. Still nothing although they
are both listed in the process list. I end the processes
on both. I open Netscape. That loads fine. I open
Macromedia Flash. That loaded fine. I try IE again. No go.
I decide to reboot again. Again clicking no to Activation.
Again the same problem. Everything Loads except Microsoft
Programs. I could not even browse my hard drive or my
computer. I can't click anything in my system tray. The
only icon that's clickable and will open in the system
tray is the Activation Keys. The tool tip says you have 4
days to activate.
I reboot again. This time I click yes to activation. The
activation screen loads activation failed because it said
the internet services were down or something of the sort.
I click remind me Later. Windows Loads and Works.
I had 4 days left to Activate and already my system was
rendered useless because I clicked no to activation.
I am angry at this. And I want to know what I can do to
avoid this in the Future. I am sick and tired of having to
call and speak with rude reps at Microsoft who seem to be
interrogating me like I am some criminal when I want to
activate my software. And I am upset that if I wait 39
days to activate my System is rendered useless when I was
given 45 days to activate.
