Help!

How can I get an n-dash or a m-dash in my document?

I read somewhere that to minus signs -- would make an m dash in Word, but it
ain't workin'!

Sometimes Word seems to know to make the dash and other times it seems to
choose not to make the dash....

Please help if you can and thank you!

Using the hyphen on the 10-key pad of keyboard, ctrl+hyphen for en-dash,
alt+ctrl+hyphen for em-dash

You can also use hyphens, but not quite as in your example. If you do them
like this--with no spaces on either side--you will get an em dash (provided
you have the appropriate AutoFormat As You Type option enabled). If you add
the spaces you should get an en dash for either one or two hyphens.

Control-numeric minus gives en dash

Control-shift-numeric minus gives em dash

You need to turn on auto-correct if you want that feature.
