Hyperthreading On or Off?

Hi all,

I have an Intel P4 3.06Ghz Hyperthreading Processor running Windows XP Home
(All latest Service packs installed).

Looking at my system:
Windows Device Manager shows ACPI Multiprocessor PC
2 Processors are listed under Processors

So Far So Good?

So why do Benchmarking and Diagnostic Programmes (SiSoft Sandra, Aquamark)
tell me that Hyperthreading is disabled?

Additionally, I read that if HT is working properly, there should be two
processor graphs in Windows Task Manager? I only have one.

I had the PC almost a year and I still don't know if HT is working, despite
looking for info on the net.
Is there a reliable HT analysis / testing program out there?

TIA

Because I suspect Windows XP Home is designed *not* to support multiple
processors. So far as I know, only XP Pro can support multiple processors,
up to two. The extra processor that XP shows is a virtual processor (i.e.
not real) courtesy of HyperThreading. I'm not sure why it would even show
it under XP Home.

This means HT is disabled. When enabled you will see two graphs.
Check all pages of your BIOS setup. HT on/off option can be tucked in some odd place.
In my Award BIOS it is on boot options page.

hypterhtreading. not that it helps much, anyway.

.
Check to see if your motherboard can support
Hyperthreading. A P4 HT processor is designed to work on
a motherboard with or without HT support. Look in the
BIOS set-up screen to see if you have the option to turn
Hyperthreading on or off. Some motherboards leave it off
as default. Try pressing the <Esc>, F1, F8, or <Delete>
keys when your computer is first booting up to enter the
BIOS menu.
