Hi,

This problem can be caused by several different things. Do you receive an error message when you click on a hyperlink, or does nothing happen at all? Can you use hyperlinks in other programs,
such as Word?

Please have a look at the following Knowledge Base articles to see if these resolve your problem.

Scott,

You seem to be knowledgeable about these problems, so I
want to ask you about a similar problem that I have.
I hope you can help. : |

I have Outlook 2002 (XP).
When I click on a hyperlink in an email, an IE browser
window opens, but it does not go to the URL of the
hyperlink. If I leave the browser window open (or if I
already have a browser window open) and I click the same
email hyperlink again, it works properly (that is, it
displays the correct Web page in the open browser.

In addition, if I do not already have a browser window
open when I click on an email hyperlink, not only does a
browser window open, but a box also opens showing the
folders on my local drive (and complete with the 'browse'
button, etc.) asking me to identify the path to my "link
browser." If I enter the path to 'iexplore.exe' in my
program files folder, the next time I click on an email
hyperlink, two IE browser windows open: the first one is
the one that opened before and does not display anything,
and the second one now displays the URL and Web page
correctly.

I found the register entry for deleting the "second"
browser window path; so what I really need to know is how
to eliminate the first browser window that opens when I
click on an email hyperlink in Outlook 2002...?

For info, the hyperlinks work fine in my other software
(i.e. Windows, etc.) and, I installed Outlook Express
just to see if it worked properly when I clicked on an
email hyperlink within Outlook Express, and it did work
properly there. So, again, it appears to be some default
(?) link to an IE browser window that is somewhere within
the Outlook 2002 software, or registry, or elswhere...?

I apologize for the long posting, but I figured you could
use as much information as possible.

Can you help me?
(Please let me know via a reply to this posting if you
need my email address. Otherwise, please post your
suggestions here.)

Thanks,

Frank
