Hyperlinks

Created a Jeopardy game where each box ($200, $400 etc) is linked to a slide
with the Q and A. How can I mark each box as answered (flipped, blank,
crossed out) after a participant has picked that box??
 
Insert an entrance animation for a box with "answered" triggered by a click
on the box chosen
 
I think that would work, but do you know for which effects I can add text?
Seems like that option is greyed out on most of the effects.
