Me being new to Vista.
In my windows mail emails. I can't seem to use any of the hyperlinks in
received messages(i.e replying to newsgroup messages etc).
Is this supposed to happen?
I read somewhere that it doesn't support hyperlinks in based email in
received messages.

Is there a work around or do I just live with it?

Any ideas would be welcomed

Cheers

You heard Wrong.
Control Panel | Programs | Default Programs
Make sure IE is the default browser.

Correctly-specified hyperlinks in received email should work fine, even if
you are using Firefox as the default browser. Windows Mail seems to create
some incorrectly-specified hyperlinks, as detailed in the thread "Can others
confirm the empty pasted hyperlink problem?", but it seems that some users
of Windows Mail are even able to get those to work, and the problem is only
in HTML messages, not in plain text messages as one has in a newsgroup.

Richard - can you check that the hyperlinks that you use are correctly
specified. Right-click on the line listing an email message that is in HTML
format, choose properties, click the Details tab, click Message Source, and
look at the part of the HTML code specifying the hyperlink.

Hi all,
I have solved the problem.
In the default programs section in control panel. I checked under "Associate
a file type or protocol with a program" and checked what was set for the
mailto: command. There wasn't any app associated with this. So I just set
the association to windows mail and now works fine.
Thanx

This is disgraceful. What you are telling me is that Vista and mail
intentionally adds code, that is against industry standards to try top
destroy superior open source web browsers like Firefox !!!!!

The linking and idiosyncrasies of setting up favorite applications as
well as associations is intentionally biased to make it very hard on
those who chose NOT to use Microshaft products !!

PLEASE, how do you fix Vista to allow other browsers, (like Firefox),
to be be set as the browser of choice and to allow hyperlinks to work in
Vista. I am using Vista 64, Ultimate.
That must of taken hours and many thousands of dollars to alter to code
to go against industry Internet standards to disallow ALL browsers
except for Microshafts browser. Ugh.

Is that really, true, I am getting rather frustrated with the
associations and the bias toward using all Microshaft products.

Please help.

Jon
