Hyperlink tries to open the doc again in Excel

I have an Excel workbook with over 30 worksheets and when I add a Hyperlink
to a place within the document it tries to open the file again. Any Ideas?

I've never seen this.

Maybe you could share some more info:

How was the hyperlink created? Did you use the worksheet function =hyperlink()
or did you use Insert|hyperlink?

And what does the link point to?

What version of excel are you running?

Thanks for looking at this, I continued working on the problem myself.

FYI - I was using the insert hyperlink.

It turns out that the problem is not with Excel but with the document
management system in use here (Sharepoint). When I check the document out
and try to use a hyperlink the problem occurs, if I don't check the document
out the hyperlink process works fine.

I just have to retrofit the changes back into the DMS for everyone to use.
